Lead Investigators are a key part of BP’s strategy for learning from incidents and to reduce safety and operational risk. Lead Investigators: Lead significant investigations, such as Major Incident Announcements / Hi Potential incidents.  Provide subject matter expertise related to incident investigation practice. Support the development of BP investigation capability with training and coaching. Lead investigations into serious incidents (actual or potential).  Deliver expert incident investigation reports that contain relevant and achievable recommendations for corrective action.  Provide oversight of process and guidance to leaders who are accountable for the investigation of incidents Provide coaching to deployed investigation leaders. Provide training in incident investigation Degree level education in an engineering or relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience. At least 5 years experience working in the oil & gas or other ‘high hazard’ industry with a significant time spent in HSSE or Operational roles. Strong incident investigation experience Knowledge of human factor analysis Knowledge of the principles of OMS and BP group requirements  Excellent verbal and written communications skills Excellent facilitation skills.
