In this role you will help build and scale Rover's booking experience, making it fast and intuitive for pet parents to find sitters. You’ll join a cross-functional Barcelona team that values quality code and collaborative problem solving. You will own end-to-end projects, shaping architecture and production monitoring while leveraging AI to accelerate development. Verantwortungsbereiche

Own end-to-end project delivery from understanding the business need to design, ship, and monitor in production
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to define scope and drive delivery
Develop and maintain backend services with a focus on code quality, testability, and maintainability
Contribute to system architecture decisions and engineering best practices
Mentor engineers, participate in code reviews, and foster technical leadership
Leverage AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and refactoring and integrate AI into workflow
Collaborate across the stack, including frontend collaboration with React/TypeScript when needed
Maintain observability through structured logs, metrics, tracing, and alerting

Zentrale Anforderungen

7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of delivering backend systems
Strong backend experience with Python and Django (or equivalent languages, e.g., Java, Go, C#, Kotlin)
Relational databases knowledge: design, migrations, query optimization
Observability mindset: instrumentation, metrics, tracing, alerting
Strong testing discipline with automated testing (unit, integration, contract)
Experience using AI coding assistants and understanding prompts and evaluation (Claude Code, Copilot or similar)
Ability to work across the stack and collaborate with frontend engineers when needed
English proficiency (written and spoken) and collaborative, agile mindset
Mentorship or technical leadership experience
