In this Senior Manager role, you will lead outsourced accounting engagements for public sector clients, guiding monthly closes, internal controls, and financial reporting with GASB compliance. You will partner with Finance Directors and CFOs to translate requirements into scalable processes and drive audit readiness. The position blends strategic advisory with hands-on execution, focusing on system improvements, grant management, and capital project accounting. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead outsourced accounting engagements for government clients and serve as primary contact to finance leaders
- Own monthly close calendar, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals/deferrals, and workpapers
- Prepare/review GASB-compliant financial statements, MD&A inputs, notes disclosures, and ACFR coordination
- Translate audit requirements into practical processes and manage PBC coordination with audit remediation
- Assess workflows and internal controls to design scalable improvements and documentation standards
- Oversee budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and KPIs for boards
- Guide chart of accounts design and reporting structures within client ERPs
- Support grants administration and capital project accounting (bond proceeds, CIP, budget-to-actual)
- Plan and manage special projects (system transitions, data cleanup, SOP development, single audit prep)
- Coach and develop staff; manage engagement economics (scope, budgets, staffing, timelines)
Zentrale Anforderungen
- BA/BS degree in accounting or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant GASB audit/public-sector finance
- Deep knowledge of fund accounting and GASB areas (leases, pensions/OPEB, assets, revenue recognition)
- Prior supervisory experience
